After installing My Family Explorer™, you can dial directly into the secure Internet environment created specifically for you, with just one click. After logging in, the program recognizes each family member and takes him or her to a personal start page. The family-safe search engine allows you to search and select those things you find beneficial to your family, without having your secure environment invaded by unwanted Internet material. The reporting tools allow you, the parent, to determine, monitor & report the Internet activity of each family member. Q How does the web accelerator work?
A To help you through these slow times we added the MFE Accelerator to our team of unique tools that make the Internet easier to use. The MFE Accelerator compresses information you request by using a proprietary technology to send it over your existing phone line. Because this information is compressed or "shrunk," it doesn't require as much space or time to travel across your phone line. In some cases, the compression process can reduce the size of the information by up to six times its original size, making the download time of your Web pages and your online experience up to six times faster.

Q How does the stop-up controller work?
A In light of all the intrusive pop ups that advertisers push at Internet users, My Family Explorer(tm) developed a tool to stop these annoyances. It allows you to choose a conservative, moderate or aggressive blocking mode. You are also able to choose the sites that you want to allow to come through as pop ups. Some banks or game sites for example will use pop up windows to show you your bank balance. With this exemption feature, you can eliminate annoyances and yet allow the sites you want.

Q How does the filter work?
A Based on neural-net technology, the filtering tool reads a website's content in context, rather than just checking single words or phrases. In just milliseconds, inappropriate websites are rejected before they reach your computer.

Q Can My Family Explorer™ have different filter settings for each profile?
A Yes, the filter can be customized for each member of the family. You can set up different filtering profiles and choose the appropriate age-group Web experience.

Q Can the filter be turned off?
A Yes, the filter can easily be turned off by right-clicking the My Family Explorer™ icon on the bottom of your computer desktop and typing in the administrator password.

Q Can every family member have his or her own e-mail account?
A Yes, each family can have up to 10 different e-mail accounts.

Q How do the reports work?
A The administrator can click on the Family Manager button found on the Parents home page. An administrator username and password is required to access the reports. You can create a report for every family member that you have set up an account for. The report will show how much time a family member has spent on the Web, where they spent their time on the Web and what sites were blocked or warning attempts were made.

Q Will My Family Explorer™ affect any other programs on my computer?
A No, but it will affect any dial-up Internet access. No matter what dial-up provider is used, it will require a login to the filtering and reporting tool.

Q Is there a time limit on the Internet access?
A No, you have unlimited Internet access. The program will close down your connection and require you to login if there are more than 10 minutes of inactivity.

Q How will the My Family Explorer™ search engine work?
A My Family Explorer™ tracks all searches and activity on the Internet. Using this information, the new search engine will give search results based on where My Family Explorer™ users spend their time, not based on what websites pay or how they use meta tags to manipulate the results.

Q What happens if we forget our administrator password?
A Call our customer service department at 1-800-326-4592. They will verify you are the administrator and set up a new password for you.

Q Is there a discount if we prepay?
